I spoke to microsoft they said BT changed something over the last week on their dns connections that prevented it from working with their update service they contacted them imediately they found out but BT thought it was an isolated issue. However it only effects some bt users.
I spoke to BT this morning and they told me they know the problem but blame miocrosoft for the fault. when i explained my sister on virgin doesn't have the fault they were confused.
Is it time to switch to virgin everyone?
Are Bt being paid by Apple or Google to block windows updates?
All temporary fixes say use google DNS so it would suggest Google are paying BT to Block windows update.
Of course, what else could it be?
Many might think receiving no updates on W10 is a bonus...
Seriously though, if this continues then at some point Windows might start throwing up user warnings that Defender definitions haven't been updated since wxyz, and thats when an issue like this will really hit the spotlight.
You have to realise that many users dont have the knowledge or confidence to attempt any changes or workarounds, let alone even tell you what version of Windows they are running.
This thread was started on the 30th January. On the 31st a BT Moderator gave the standard 'sorry for any inconvenience' spiel. It is now the 2nd of February, and what updates have we had from BT? Nada......
Customer service award 2019 goes to BT....... in their dreams
Agree and just on my Surface tablet that fails on my BT internet, using a mobile hotspot works perfectly, so not anything to do with Windows.

My Windows 10 PC is set back to the Router gateway address (which means it is using the BT DNS values assigned to the router) and is working fine now.
Do BT have more than one set of DNS's?
This chaneg of DNS to Googles works for some not others, I have tried 6 DNS servers and all not working with my BT internet, my mobile connection using hotspot with ID moble is ok and updated a Surface tablet earlier ok, that failed on my BT Wifi.
