I'm also having issues with connecting to Microsoft Windows Updates on my Windows 10 PC and my Xbox cannot connect to Microsoft Services for downloading apps and games either.
I've read that this happened on a large scale across various countries affecting many people over the last couple of days.
It's been noted that BT and Comcast have caused it and it's something to do with DNS servers and that it's not Microsofts fault.
Well I'm at a loss because not only have I restsrted my BT Hub 6 Router which made no difference, I also changed my DNS servers in Windows to Google Public DNS of 8.8.8.8 and that still didn't get me connected to Microsoft Windows Update so is this all a problem at Microsofts end?
All the reports indicate it's a Win10 bug, nothing to do with end ISPs.
Where has it been noted that Comcast and BT caused it?

I wish you check your fact before posting
Erm

Try changing your IPv6 DNS as well as IPv4:
As above change IPv6 and IP v4, worked for me, link ....
Thank you rowleymile, you are a life saver. The IPv4 change alone didn't work for me and I couldn't find it for the IPv6 ... thanks to your link I have now changed both and the updates are rolling in !!!
I, too, have had to change to the Google DNS settings to be able to install Windows updates, but now a more menacing error has evolved, my memory stick in the USB slot (BTHub 6) cannot be found. I changed it back to the blank BT settings and it’s now accessible, but, of course, the updating error has reappeared.
Come on BT do something about this.
This is pretty ridiculous. Still no official work from BT on what's happening. A lot of users aren't confident enough to mess with the DNS settings of their OS so that workaround wont work for the majority of people.
EDIT: Apparently BT only found out about this yesterday (2nd February)
