Re: Windows update/activation blocked on our BT connection..

In case you haven't noticed, the problem would appear to be Microsoft not BT.

BT own comcast it's the DNS that is being used, people like yourself should check facts before telling me I'm wrong. It's the DNS fault. BT is far bigger than what people say. BT own most landlines is true. Companies like plus net use BT lines to run there service. I wish you check your fact before posting

OK, I'll bite.

BT own Comcast?

No where did I say it wasn't a DNS issue.

Also with regard owning and controlling the landlines, that's different. My other reply was when you said BT control all the landlines (apart from Virgin - not to mention others like KCOM and Jersey), they don't. Openreach effectively own the landlines, but BT as the parent own them including the infrastructure. It might appear pedantic, but with regard controlling them - that's a different story. TalkTalk, Sky, Vodafone, Plusnet and others control their lines as I said. They all have their own equipment.

i was talking about landlines BT own all the landlines in the Uk except for Virgin lines.  When you talk about mobile lines that not a land line that is a mobile line.

Openreach is a separete company within BT PLC

It is still BT owned

Where did I mention mobile? I don't disagree about BT owning the lines and infrastructure (apart from Virgin and KCOM).

Hi HackneyMan
Followed your instructions and it worked. Restarted my PC and it still worked on Google DNS. Then set the adaptor settings back to the default DNS (BT) restarted my PC and it worked !!!!!! I must be honest I really cannot explain that one. I have a feeling it won't last before I have to go back to Google DNS. Many thanks.

It would now appear that it is a Microsoft issue after all !!! and they are working to fix it.
