Thanks for that however I am aware what the fix is. I was pointing out to the poster, perhaps clumsily, that what he posted was not "the best fix". It was a fix but only if you have a wireless connected device.
You might as well leave your DNS settings configured with the Google server addresses.
The Google DNS server settings are 8.8.8.8 (primary) and 8.8.4.4 (secondary).
You can also use settings for OpenDNS which are 208.67.222.222 (primary) and 208.67.220.220 (secondary).
I use a combination of both of those with 8.8.8.8 as primary and 208.67.222.222 as secondary.
For those that are new to this thread the advice to change the DNS settings has been posted over a dozen times so it is not necessary to keep posting the information about how to do it. Just read through the thread and you will see what is involved in changing them and which settings to use.
Unfortunately nobody ever reads a long thread before posting.
Thing is when the microsoft guy tried all those setting mine still would not connect
it was only when i connected via my Mobile Data that the updates started to work
putting it back to the normal links the updates stopped
it stumped the guy so he handed it over to his 2nd line support still awaiting a call.
Looks like the Windows 10 updates are now working
Do not have the 8.8.8.8 settings it has connected without any issue this morning
London - Just checked and it does appear that Windows 10 updates are now working using the default DNS settings.
Sorry to say but still has issue with connection on intermitting works and then will not download updates using auto setting.
Check update servers they have issue across UK again clear this morning
can you be more specific as your wording is unclear. Your saying that the problem has returned and now update is not working?
What are auto settings, what part of country are you in etc.
if so report it to BT
