Wired connection ?

Hi

I am looking to change my bb provider to BT

I have an existing BT home phone line

My main computer does not have wireless - we currently use this on a wired connection and a couple of other devices on wireless and would like a similar set up if possible.

Our other problem is that the main BT master socket is downstairs and our main computer (not wireless) is the other side of the house upstiars

Please can you advise me if this is possible with BT - either Infinity or standard ?

Many thanks

Re: Wired connection ?

there would be no need to change anything just connect the home hub into the phone socket near your pc and disconnect your old ISP's Router

Re: Wired connection ?

The BT Home Hub has both wired Ethernet ports and WiFi, so that should be OK.

With standard ADSL, you can plug the Home Hub into a phone extension if your extension wiring is good enough.  However, the speed may be slower than if you used the master socket.  Otherwise, you're looking at a long ethernet cable.

With Infinity, Openreach can swap a master and extension socket (again, if your wiring is good enough), or run an extension cable between the Openreach modem and the Home Hub.
