Wireless connected but no internet connection (but only on some devices)

Go to solution

Hi

I've had BT Infinity 2 for a week and have struggled to maintain connection across some devices.

I've noticed that the wifi connects OK, yet the internet connection is not enabled.

My sons Amazon Kindle hasn't worked from day 1, but now my Android phone is exhibiting the same behaviours.

I've read numerous forums but nothing seems to resolve the issue.

I have disabled smart setup, for new devices. This appeared to work initially but reverted back to not working quickly afterwards.

I have also fixed the IP addresses for those devices that are conencted so there shouldn't be any conflict

I have 4 other wireless devices on the network which are fine.

I have also noticed that my desktop, which is wired into the router looses it's connection overnight too so requires an IP release and renew to re-establish itself.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Try giving the 5GHz a seperate SSID (just add a 5 at the end). This has been known to correct the problem especially with Apple devices.

I did this, It has a different SSID.

The apple devices are OK. My Samsung Android phone and the Kindle which have issues.

My phone was OK earlier in the week.

Then forget the connection on the effected devices and reconnect.

Been round that loop multiple times.

rebooted everything multiple times too.

Reset the wireless settings, then changed the 5G only.

Is there anyway of forcing a firmware update on the router?

Worth adding that this FTTP and a model B HH5 - if that makes any difference?

Try a factory reset of the hub and see if that resolves the problem  firmware updates are automatic and cannot be forced

No, didn't resolve the problem, even using the factory SSIDs and passwords.

Yes. Held it in for 15seconds.

Light started flashing green

All settings reverted to factory ones. i.e. ssids, passwords and smart setup.

All other devices still OK.

try changing wireless security on the hub to WPA that may help as some devices do not like WPA2
