Re: Wireless keeps dropping out even with a brand new home hub !!

Marc has posted that he received a wireless update on his BTHHV2.0 typeA - http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-in-Home/Home-Hub-2-0-Wireless-Connection-Problems/m-p/102045#M53253

It would appear that this resolved his wireless issues...

Maybe BT are working on a type B update which would also serve the infinity hub -  type B(i)...

Also, maybe BT will decide to carry out a mass update...

Re: Wireless keeps dropping out even with a brand new home hub !!

I would hope so, though it sounds like A & B are totally different implementations so unclear what state in the pd/fix process they may be.

Clearly a firmware update is the best all-round solution as everyone will benefit

I suspect (and worry) many people are suffering these problems without being aware of the reasons and thinking they're doing something wrong..

Re: Wireless keeps dropping out even with a brand new home hub !!

I thought I popped on a an update.. but maybe I forgot lol.

The update fixed the problem for a few days, but the issue is back.

So dont get excited!

But have finally rolled over and admitted its due to the poor quality components in a home hub 2, although they cant explain why it only affects some customers.

I pointed out to them that when im reading emails, online banking and the like, it is fine, it is only when on a data intensive site, like iplayer, youtube, or using the xbox online, that I get the problem, meaning the problem is caused by large amounts of data being transfered, and stuffing up the wireless.

Whether the wireless driver is duff, or the components in the hub its self are over heating and shutting down, who knows!

Re: Wireless keeps dropping out even with a brand new home hub !!

Well my problem is still unresolved ! Still drops out majority of the time and its pretty random ! I cant work it out. The one thing that niggles me is that when I called BT they put me through to  a section called IT Help or something who can actually charge you to get you sorted and they were all ready to tell me its a windows issue and charge me accordingly to help me out and get it sorted until I mentioned I cant connect on a Nokia either !! Im only glad that was the case else I would have been ripped off !! How many people are, I wonder.

Re: Wireless keeps dropping out even with a brand new home hub !!

I've had my laptop next to the hub and still had the problem...

I also have a variety (> 10) wireless devices and 9 different wifi routers. Whilst problems have cropped up before I've never had such a severe unresolved issue affecting all clients -- IMO the HH2 is seriously flawed.

Perhaps it is initiated by interference & how the hub responds to it, or invalid data from clients, or total traffic volume, or number of associated clients -- but ultimately the other routers handle it, the HH2 does not. Therefore HH2 is broken.

I have a tracked problem open (the forum mods did this for me on Sunday -- thanks guys!) and am waiting for response from tech support.

And of course there's no way to ssh etc into the router to look at stats, error counters, syslog etc which might help in debugging. Perhaps support can do this remotely... though of course no doubt the problen then won't occur for a while!

Hi planetf1

Click on this link to enter the hub manager - http://bthomehub.home/

Click A-Z, then ADSL Settings, input the hubs password and you'll see the stats

(click 'more detail' to get all the errors counts etc)

and if you select Troubleshooting and then Event Log

You can then see what's been happening...

Re: Wireless keeps dropping out even with a brand new home hub !!

Thanks, though I've seen the errorlog -- nothing interesting reported at all sadly.

And of course no ADSL stats as I'm on Infinity & the actual VDSL modem is a seperate "black box" (well it's white!) with no access by the user to stats etc.

Ah, the joys of the infinity hub!...Smiley Mad

TBH, I'm glad I'm still on the upto 8mb, having seen many posts on ADSL2 and infinity

What a wonderful time I've got coming to me, one day...

Re: Wireless keeps dropping out even with a brand new home hub !!

Mine seems slightly more stable the last couple of days..... I have no idea why !

Maybe my HH has monthly spasms lol

Mind you..... the things that go on that no one detects are a different story !

Anyone understand this lot ?
