if you ran inssider and assuming your laptop wifi is working then you should see all the networks broadcasting about your location including your router.  you do not need to be connected to the net just have a working laptop wifi

 

it will also show if your router wifi is being broadcast

The router is shown for about 5 seconds, and then disappears!

just your router that disappears - are there other routers broadcasting round about you? if so do they also disappear?

There are other routers around me, but all of them stayed in the list for more than 5 secs, except hers!
