I have had this problem as soon as I joined a few weeks back.It didnt happen with virgin media. I connect via wireless to the home hub and it varies but usually every 10/20 minutes it disconnects and I can connect back straightaway. I have a feeling that it is a problem with the wiring. Can anyone help me, especially Bt people? This may happen on the laptop too when I use a constant connection because sometimes when I am watching a video on youtube it stops to buffer half way through but this may not be relevant.

but it worked before no problems its reliable too before it disconnects so wired connection is the same
My guess is that you are using a home hub 3, and it is renewing the DHCP lease every 20 minutes, that is why it is dropping the connection.
To overcome this problem see Static IP with Home Hub
Instructions for the Xbox are here http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-xbox360.htm
I dont think it is the solution as the time it disconnects varies usualy 10-20 mins but I will try to do that

I think you will find that the lease time does vary, depending on the number of connections.
People on the Xbox forums always recommend using static addresses, especially if port forwarding is used.

You can see the home hub logs, and you could look at your own to see for yourself
