Yesterday suddenly my YouView box stopped responding to the remote control. The TV still responded to the buttons which affect it directly (TV power, sound volume and TV/AV). I had to cut power to the YouView for a while, and it now works normally.
Is this a known problem with the YouView box? Is it to do with the loathsome new software?
It could easily be due to the new software as there have been reports of problems similar to yours that required a reboot to get back to normal operation , well as normal as possible with the new software.
Just had the same thing as the OP. Unresponsive box-no pic or sound- unplugged for a few mins now it's ok.
Thing is, it seems exactly the same as before and my recordings page is still normal aka not updated!
I've found with my boxes that doing a power off is sometimes(quite infrequently) necessary to restore normal service regardless of any updates taking place.
I've found that with Sky+ & Panasonic recorders I've used in the past as well.
