Re: You're a better man than I

Thank you.

I will try to find out what Sky Q costs and it it is worth it.

Do you think I can have BT and a Sky Q box?

Re: You're a better man than I

No reason why not, you can have both. I have eight source devices currently plumbed into my TV set up.

Other options to avoid recording clashes are to watch some of the programmes on catch up. I prefer to do this with BBC programmes on iPlayer to avoid the ad breaks in the commercial catch up players. Or to record an alternative showing of a programme if available.

Jesus and His Holy Mother.

I am indeed fortunate to have found this site with such informed guys as yourselves.

I am off to check out this catch up thingy.

Re: You're a better man than I

Get a freesat box, better PQ than freeview IMHO. Reserve the BT box for subscription content and you really won't need to record more than two  channels given the repeats/ catch up service. I've got an 8 output LNB on  my old Sky dish  🙂

Re: You're a better man than I

You are going to have a good laugh at this.

What is PQ?

I know this may sound strange to all you guys with techno savvy but believe me there are people like me out there with not the slightest idea what to do if it has more than an on and off switch.

I have my freeview box set up to my TV. I have tried to connect my DVD machine also to the TV. Result no DVD.

Apple Iphone (shudder) I bought one a year or so ago and ended up giving it to my daughter. I couldn't use the damn thing.

I have an excuse, I am old. I won't get to see many more future developments I hope you guys will be able to handle them., I suspect you will.

Sorry I just meant picture quality nothing technical! I think the main thing about modern technology is that it's meant to be fun to use just keep experimenting with it until you get to know what it does.

Re: You're a better man than I

I get what you are saying srp it should be fun, but not when you are tearing your hair out after setting up the project and after a few hours to find it still doesn't work.

A neighbour of mine another old guy gave me what I think is maybe a good tip the other day. He said if he wants to set something up that is technically beyond him, he goes to our local University and puts an ad on their notice board saying he will pay anyone who can fix it. He says a young guy comes and usually the problem is solved. He says it is cheaper than the local Computer shops.

It will help with their Univerity fees, they need it.
