Re: You were disconnected from EA Online

I just had an idea which might work as an alternative to powerlines.  Currently I have one really long cat 5 cable running from the homehub to my room.  It used to be for my PC, but a few months ago I put a wireless dongle in my PC and moved the wire into my sky box for their anytime plus service as I didn't want to shell out for sky's "wireless connector" which is also quite bulky (It looks like it's about the same size as a modem!)

What if I were to move the homehub to my room and connect it to the modem via that long cat 5 cable running between the two rooms, then put the wireless dongle on my Dad's PC?  I could then connect my PC, the sky box AND my PS3 to the homehub with wires!

It's a bit late to test it out now as everyone else is asleep but I can't see why it wouldn't work, unless the red cable that currently goes between the modem and homehub is a crossover?

That should work without any issues. Alternatively, you could buy a network switch and put it into your room and leave the Homehub where it is but it's up to you 🙂

Re: You were disconnected from EA Online

You may have loss of speed with just a cat5 depending on how long it is from the modem to the router, but in a realistic home it should work, I believe its after 10 meters of cat5 you start to lose speed, but this an easy fix as cat5e is for longer distrances, I believe?

Re: You were disconnected from EA Online

Can someone please look at my ping results and tell me if my online gaming is ok. I get fragged on my xbox360 FEAR and Doom 3 BFG for example seems very easy, its either my connection or my online gaming skills, who knows cause I dont really?. I have used like the others to tracert www.ea.com as an example, I dont know FEAR or Doom 3 online server site to test. Thanks.

Re: You were disconnected from EA Online

There's nothing wrong with that traceroute, and if you're having problems with F.E.A.R and Doom 3 it's definitely not a problem with EA or similar to the other issues on this thread as neither of these games are produced by EA therefore don't go through their servers. I'd say your gaming skills might need of a bit of polishing 😉

Re: You were disconnected from EA Online

It is a cat 5E cable I'm using.  I was too lazy to type the E Smiley LOL

I've moved the homehub now, and everything seems to be working ok.  Time to try a few games of FIFA and see what happens!

Re: You were disconnected from EA Online

Nope... still having problems unless it was a freak accident at EA's end!

Just got disconnected again and took this tracing route immediately afterwards as I had my PC on at the same time.  Both PC and PS3 now connected with wires.

Re: You were disconnected from EA Online

I'm still getting kicked from the servers quite often, even on a Monday afternoon when most people are at work/school! Smiley Frustrated My ping times seem to be consistent though, any ideas anyone?

Re: You were disconnected from EA Online

Ah it's OK one of my friends just texted me asking if I was having problems with EA servers and he's with Sky broadband so maybe it's them this time.  Well hopefully it is!

Re: You were disconnected from EA Online

Yeah, im getting signed out, takes about 4 or 5 trys on fifa 13 to get back in, then the club mode says failed to get your online information. Fifa is so glitchy and full of bugs this year. Ea are a joke.
