Hi there
My YouView remote controls my YouView box and my TV, so all good. But today I also purchased a soundbase (Q Acoustics M2, via HDMI).
I've realized I don't know much about remotes! Is it even possible for the remote to control all devices? If so, how best to do it?
Thanks

Hi @dgravy welcome to the community and thanks for posting, I'm afraid that won't work the Youview remote has been designed to only control the Youview box and TV, sorry.
Thank you @gomezz for the reply and advice. That is quite expensive though. Are there cheaper options? Either a less fancy Logitech or other make?
What is it exactly that I need to look for? Just any 'universal remote'?
Any universal remote that supports at least three devices: TV, Youview box and soundbase. I am concerned thought that the soundbase you have gone for may not be supported by some of the cheaper remotes that rely on what is built into them out of the box so also look for one that has a learning facility so it can learn from the native remote control.
The Harmony 655 is the their lowest spec model I would suggest. But you need to use a computer to set them up to access their online database of equipment it can control. I have an older 650 model as a back up to one of their more expensive touch-screen models as, for example, when entering a search string you cannot beat a physical alpha/numeric key pad.
Thinking about it, I don’t actually need to control the soundbase and all its functions, just its volume. Does that change things? (Read somewhere if it’s HDMI ARC input it can be controlled via the remote?)
So by way of update, I read something - which may or may not have been true - about Logitech and data privacy, in the sense that they can/do collect and sell your viewing data.
So in the end I purchased a cheap Oneforall universal remote £13 (I think it was the Contour model) and it controls TV and YouView box and *does* control the soundable volume when set to control the BT YouView box.
The only thing it cannot do is actually control the other functions of the soundbase since it doesn't;have the correct code built in to its codes database. The 'learn from another remote' feature doesn't seem to work so I could send to to Oneforall for a free update or buy the more expensive Oneforall remote (Smart5/8) which has access to the updated codes database. But I'm happy to stick with what I have. It does the job that I need i.e. control soundbase volume using the remote

No idea how a Logitech remote control could possible do that other than the top end models that use Alexa for voice control (which I would not personally touch with a barge pole, other than to beat it into a pulp). Do you have a link for that claim?
Sorry, posted on wrong thread
