Re: Youview announcement on Next Generation user experience

YOUVIEW: THE NEXT GENERATION – WHAT’S IN STORE FOR THE UK’S SMART TV PLATFORM ?

"TalkTalk customers will get the update first, followed by those using boxes supplied by BT – who say they’ll announce their go-live date “very, very soon” – and retail owners."

"very, very soon" - Sometime around June 2018......

I jest of course. I hope.

Re: Youview announcement on Next Generation user experience

Sounds pretty good, the thumbnail view for the recordings for example could make things a lot better.

would they dare to release this upon us this side of Christmas though? I mean what if it **bleep** up and we miss all the Christmas telly !

Re: Youview announcement on Next Generation user experience

I like the idea of the cloud being used. What would be great would be if we could buy cloud space at reasonable price into which we could store recordings, adding virtual storage space to the hard disk on the machine would help greatly.

Does anyone know if this update will allow us to now view the freeview IP channels?

I hope you can disable that new transparent TV guide - otherwise there are going to be a lot of complaints from partially sighted viewers.

There are other Youview videos on YouTube.

This one deals with accessibility

Re: Cloud Storage

I think people need to move beyond 'recordings'. On Demand should become the norm, and it's only short-sighted TV channels and rights-holders that are holding back a full VOD service: no MOTD on iPlayer and certain channels not offering HD catch-up etc.
