Youview app and hidden/disabled channels

Go to solution

I've got a high number of channells hidden, (shopping, adult, sport etc), but they still show up on the Youview app. Is there a way to get the app to display only the channels available on the guide?

If not could it be possible in a future update?

This isn't currently possible, but I believe Youview are looking at doing this in the future.

Thanks for confirming.

It would be useful update to tidy up the channel list on the app.

They seem to have lots of plans for the apps, but it will take time....

You can do this but it is a faff:

1. On the box delete the device from the connection list.
2. Delete the app from your phone or tablet.
3. On the box choose to connect a new device.
4. Downloaded the app to your device and go through setup, enter the code generated by the box.

Onice your device has been approved by the box the listing on the device will match the one on the box with all the same channels hidden.

Ji  Jonquirk - You have responded to a very old thread.

The Youview app was upgraded in October (IOS)  & December  (Android) 2013 to handle hidden channels.

To save any further confusion - I'll mark the thrread solved.

This is why I use an Android tablet to fill the app gap in my Windows phone.  BT Sport and also a version of BBC iPlayer which supports downloads being the main ones for me.

With Windows 10 upcoming and its cross platform features, I would have thought it is more likely that a Windows Phone app will be produced at some time now..

Re: Youview app and hidden/disabled channels

I know I was replying to an old question but it's still valid because the point is that when you set up the app on install it receives the channel list from the box. Any hidden channels on the box are hidden on the app. So far so good. If you subsequently hide further channels on the box the list on the app does not appear to be updated to reflect this change. You have to do the uninstall and reinstall routine to get a new list in the app.
