This was an interesting news article from youview...

in itself nothing much - but seems to suggest they are going to sit more back office behind its “customers” BT and talk talk etc.
Press Releases often make me chuckle at some of the wording they use, Youview have aimed high with this one.
I can't imagine that the app is going to be missed, it's not exactly bursting with features.
I can imagine it causing quite a stir with those that bought the equipment retail to loose the ability to remote record - it’s a pretty fundamental feature in this day and age.
It also seems a quite BT centric release reading between the lines - but I might be reading too much into it.
😊
I don't know what the split would be between BT and Talk Talk but I would have thought BT had by far the most customers.
I agree with you to some extent @nostra999 about the loss of remote record, but that and a TV Guide is all it is. I would expect live streaming and catch up to be far more desirable features, and as shareholders the BBC, ITV, C4, C5 and BT (I don't know about Talk Talk) offer this, the app seems somewhat inadequate.
I can’t ever recall needing to remote record, so a feature I wouldn’t miss one bit.
i only use the App to check the tv guide because i can't be bothered to reach for the Youview remote
You can use the BT TV app, not as good but it works after the flap of setting it up.
Personally I rarely set any recording on the box itself preferring the ease & speed of the app.
I do use the BT TV app on one of my units but with the Youview app going the other unit will be left stranded.
Replying to TimCurtis...
Same here. I wonder if the BT app will be able to address two devices.
