Hi all,
I have recently updated from the bt hub 5 to the new smart hub 2 with an additional disc.
One of my devices which connects via ethernet will continously disconnect and reconnect every few seconds in a loop making it totally unusable when connected to the new smart hub 2
I have plugged the old hub5 back in and checked it and the device works perfectly with the older hub when connected to the ethernet
Does anyone have any kind of a solution to stop this from happening?
Is there something in the smarthub i need to toggle to eradicate this problem?
Thank you in advance for any help given.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Did you turn off smart setup as that causes problems
Just a guess but I would not be surprised if it is because the 2.4 and 5Ghz networks cannot be split.
Is it by chance an Apple device?
Thanks for your reply. Yes I've tried turning off smart setup but it didn't make a difference.
This is over ethernet not WiFi .
The device is Samsung Dex station.
Really want to get this resolved asap.

It sounds like duplex mismatch, where the home hub and your device, cannot establish the correct rate due to differences in the link pulse timing caused by hardware design.

One solution is to insert an Ethernet switch between the home hub, and the affected device. That acts as a buffer to correct the timing. Ethernet switches are not expensive, and also give you some extra ports.
@Keith_Beddoe thank you for your reply.
Im sorry to sond dense but im not very clued up on ethernet switches. Would any switch work and how does it regulate it and solve the problem please.
Could you link one you would recommend please?
Thank you
Try TP link sf1005lp. Not expensive
