Im writing this on behal of my Mother so in her words:
Hi I have been a BT customer for many many years, I have 2 accounts and now find them really expensive.
My grandsons account which i pay for was out of contract until he watches a Pay per viiew boxing match which i have now learned from the awful BT customer service ppl that he has entered into another 18 month contract on the back of that and want over £400 to cancel that contract!!!
Im a pensioner and dont know what i am doing, I was mad with this information of a stupid amount to pay to get away from BT!!
My husband recently died and he sorted everything
Ive explained i can no longer pysically afford the payments for my grandson which is only Broadband at £50 a month!!!!
They added sports package without any contract being signed or sent to me
My package is £45 a month just for telephone and broadband and to be fair the broadband always stops working and is unreliable
The customer service just stated their was nothig they would do unless i pay an absolute fortune to cancel both policies!!
I can not believe how un caring these ppl are and pretty much told me "tough you are in a contract" "pay the cancelation fee or keep paying the monthy fee" im 75 and dont even know why i have broadband anymore and i dont need the phone either i use my mobile if i need to make a call.
So i have a package for me and my granson that equates to 2 broadband pakages, we have the really old routers, i
2 telephone lines and im paying nearly £100 a month!!!!
I cant pay this anymore and just want out, I am going to stop payments and disconnect everything
Can someone please tell me what will happen when i stop payments? i have not got the money so cant pay, i dont need the services anymore they are pointless.
I have never felt so let down and persecuted by these people, I do not have a problem with paying my last months bill and disconnecting everything, Any advise would be greatly appreciated to get me out of the huge mess and away from the worse company i have ever dealt with, I should never of considered going into technology when i didnt need it, and now im being told "tough you are in an 18 month contract pay up!!!!!!!"
Stressed, let down and at the end of my tether!!!!

Is it your name or your grandsons name on the account ?
If it's your name did you give your grandson permission to make changes on your behalf ? if you have then there really isn't much you can do apart from appeal to BT for a goodwill discount with a new contract, it would be goodwill as technically BT have done nothing wrong, your grandson made changes which has increased the cost.
If you didn't give permission then that's a different matter, that would then fall as fraud, you can report it to action fraud and they will give a crime reference number, you can then report the matter to BT fraud team to investigate.
Ultimately BT are a business who provide a service to make a profit, if your grandson made the changes, you should be chasing him to make the payments, you have stated your grandson entered into the contract but you still blame BT who have done nothing but provide the service your grandson ordered.
I did give my grandson permission to watch the boxing and i think he got conned into taking this aditional package being arranged over the tv!!!!!!!!
I have been conned into all of these contracts and now being told TOUGH much like your reply
These ppl and yourself have no compassion or understanding reference my position now, instead you demand pay the consiquences or pay the monthly bill
I havent got the resources now to pay
What would it cost BT to cancel my contracts?????? It would cost ZERO so this wouldnt inpact on theirs PROFITS would it?
My son is in media and is now willing to make an example of this
No fraud has been committed, i was just hoping a multi national company making billions a year would have some compassion for an elderly lady who didnt know what she was doing apart from trying to make her grandson happy.
Thank you you for not helping, demanding money on a "its tough im afraid basis"
I am always willing to pay for my services and have no problem with companies making a profit
I wont be using this broadband and sports package, its useless to me but i have to pay because i cant cancel without paying extortionate rates to leave the worst provider in the market, I reiterarte it would cost BT Zero to cancel my contract.
I hope people take notice of these posts and avoid the BULLY boy tactics used once you stupidly enter into a contract with BT
I will take this further with the help of my son in the media!
@-Richie- said if your grandson had permission to talk to BT and make changes to the account then the problem lies with your grandson who agreed the new monthly cost. did your grandson not tell you that he had made changes and cost would increase?
I think taking this to the media is going to cause your grandson some stress
the blame lies with your grandson but hopefully BT will look compassionately on your case and come to some compromise
I have aske forum mods to see if there is anything they can do to help they are the ONLY BT empoyees on the forum everyone else is a customer just like you
My grandson didnt talk to anyone, he asked me for permission to watch a pay per view boxing match which BT then somehow let him accept a BT package through the TV with a new contract?
Surely any contract should be verbal over the phone or in writing? not a click on the tv remote??????
Rediculous
No stress will be coming his way i gave him permission to watch the boxing
He has mental health issues, no parents to watch over him apart from an elderly lady who knows nothing about these things
Well done BT!!!!!!!

So he placed the order via a Sky set top box, which shows all the terms and conditions on screen, which you grandson accepted in order to place the order.
You gave him permission to do so but neither you nor your grandson accept responsibility for your actions.
Pay-per-view is exactly that, you pay once to view the content, your grandson has opted for a BT Sports subscription as that comes with a minimum term, so your grandson is not giving you the full story, he's told you it's a pay-per-view event but he's ordered BT Sports, the 2 are completely different.
The boxing was a BT sport Pay per view so your facts are wrong, and like i said he has a Mental illness, Can nobody see my point here, instead of looking to Defend BT and their Bully Boy Tactics can anyone at BT with some sort of compassion see this was done inocently ? Obviously not eh? Thank for your defensive replies and maintainimng BT are compassionate, Understanding and helpful to a customer who has given them money for the profits for the last 25 years, Customer service must be beaming with self pride, well done keep up the good work.
as I pointed out already the only BT empoyees on this customer forum are the forum Mods everyone else is a customer just like you
the comments that I made are based on the information you have posted and anyone reading the posts can see that the problem was not caused by BT but by your grandson albeit maybe innocently but with your permission entering into a contract with BT which has resulted in an increase in monthly cost to you
I have asked forum mods to see if they can help you get an amicable agreement and they will post here
ok thank you for trying to help
Hi @wrighty1111,
Thank you for posting.
Whenever a new contract is entered into with BT, we do so in good faith that the terms of that contract would be honoured.
BT would send a confirmation email to the primary email address linked to the account, outlining the terms and condition of the contact. If the order was placed by your Grandson online, then he would have has to have agreed to the terms before placing the order a confirmation email would also have been sent.
Having said that I do understand that there are some personal circumstance to take into account and I'd be happy to take a look at the details of your complaint.
Please can you send me in your BT account details using the "Contact The Mods" link found in my profile?
Thanks
