computer security with Mcaffee

My pc runs on windows 7, apparently since Jan 2020 no longer supported by microsoft. Does this mean that I have to upgrade to windows 10 to maintain online security or will the mcafee security provided by bt still keep my data safe? If anyone can help that would be a good thing.

McAfee will give you protection from viruses and malware etc but it does not fix any security problems with the Windows 7 operating system which can be exploited by hackers and scammers.

Unless there is an express need to keep using Windows 7 you are best to update to Windows 10.

Despite the Microsoft "free" option being no longer advertised you can still get a free upgrade to W10 using the Microsoft site. I have upgraded many W7 computers using this method and it is 100% legal and works without issue.
