Re: connection lost

Hi,

Welcome to BT Retail's Community Forum. This is a customer to customer forum.

Do you have any Internet connection at all?

To help us find the problem with your connection please may you see the following steps below:

1) Are you connected by master or test socket?.
2) Can you please run a BT speed test (including IP Profile) http://speedtester.bt.com (not beta version)[Best done with a wired, ethernet, connection]
3) is there any noise on your line. dial 17070 option2 from landline. should be silent but slight hum normal on cordless phone.
4) please post adsl line statistics

ADSL Line Statistic Help:

If you have a BT Home Hub like the one below...

Then:

1) Go to http://192.168.1.254 or http://bthomehub.home

2) click Settings

3) Click Advanced Settings

4) Click Broadband

5) Click Connection or sometimes called ADSL (see picture Below)

adslconnection.png

The direct Address is http://bthomehub.home/index.cgi?active_page=9116 (for bthomehub3)

There are more useful links on Keith's website here: If you have an ADSL connection, please select this link

cheers

Re: connection lost

Hi,

Your line is rougthly 3.4km long which I would have estimated a speed between 5.5-6.4mb on adsl2+ on a good line.

Your sync rate (the speed between the hub/router and the exchange) is  8,257 Kbps (about 8.15mbps) which is very good for your line length.

However your noise margin is low, it should be around 6dB. This could be caused by your internal wiring.

Please can you connect to the test socket by doing the follwing:

1) If you have a master socket like the ones below:

mastersockettypes3.png

Then:

A)Carefully unscrew the bottom removable faceplate of the master socket.

B) A test socket will be revealed behind the faceplate you have just taken off.

C) plug a micro filter ,with the router, into the test socket.

This will eliminate your internal wiring.

2) get a phone and connect to the phone socket of the microfilter in the test socket and dial 17070 option 2 called quite line test. There should be no noise but slight hum normal for cordless phones.

3) Please repost all of the adsl line statistics from when connected to Test Socket. You may need to click More Details.

cheers

Re: connection lost

To View all HEC, CRC, FEC errors on the ADSL Line Statistics you will need to click More Details.

For example:

hubstats.png

Which Hub are you using?

There's more help on getting the adsl line statistics here: ADSL Statistics

Could you please also see my last post here: http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-Speed-Connection-Issues/connection-lost/m-p/615348/highlight/true#M152...

cheers
