constant disconnects almost hourly

Hi,

I have BT infinity 2 installed and im very happy with the speed. However since the european fibre connection went down a week or two ago that effected routing from england to europe my inifinity connection seems to disconnect almost hourly.  This is incredibly frustrating as i both work from home and i am also an online gamer. 

 

The power and wireless lights remain blue while the broadband light flashes purple/red and i have to do an automatic set up on the home hub page to get the internet up and running again.  This is incredibly frustrating.

 

Im based in the SS3 part of Essex.

to see if its dhcp related just set your pc to have a static ip address

while the broadband light flashes purple/red  Doesn't sound like a dhcp issue.

 

Do the modem lights show anything odd while the HomeHub is flashing like this?  Presumably there isn't an issue with the modem though, if just resetting the HomeHub gets everything working again.

My apologies for not getting back to you sooner i have been monitoring the lights.  Basically the black hub unit switches to an orange light and complete loss of internet to all devices connected ie iphone, pc wired into hub, and a secondary pc  - which are all wired into the unit.  The white unit presumably the modem stays the same throughout without dsl, lan 1 and power lights remaining green.

 

If i go through the motions in hub manager of automatic setup of username it will reconnect after a minute or 4 about 80% of the time. The other 20% of the time i can only get the internet back by switching off power to the hub and modem and restarting it all.

 

Its driving me virtually insane.

looks like a line problem causing the disconnects but you cant rule out a dodgy router
do you have another router you can try?

you should either buy one or go through the mill of raising faults and getting engineers to visit in my opinion
