Re: contacting BT to cancel BT Sport

Miss BT if a company does not give its customer an adequate facility to cancel or delays their ability to cancel it is technically holding them to ransom, which I'm sure is illegal.

It used to have a name something like continuous payment authority and prior to regulations being put in place was used by unscrupulous companies as only they could cancel it. They also used to use threats of Bailiffs, court and used to laugh at people down the phone when trying to cancel.

So I hope you are proud of your scaremongering.

I'm sure all you need is evidence that you have tried to cancel but the company has not responded or acted. I'm sure the vast number of posts across this forum is evidence  that it is not good enough.

I've emailed a certain  person that I'm not allowed to mention and informed him that I've had no luck on the one and only option available on the website.

Re: contacting BT to cancel BT Sport

Got through today by calling Loyalty team on 0800 800030.  Took about 35 mins.

They are letting you pause it if you want, or cancel.  I still cancelled as I'm moving it over to Sky anyway.

Not to patronise anyone, but be considerate - they're all stuck in the call centre despite the govt advice last night.  BT still aren't facilitating their working from home, or automatically pausing Sports and letting all but technical help go home.  The guy I spoke with sounded really unnerved and disappointed he was having to be in and largely working as normal.

Re: contacting BT to cancel BT Sport

Yes good point about being considerate, but then if BT gave the online option in the first place, or just paused it all for everyone automatically we wouldnt have to jump through hours of hoops to get it done 😞

Agree SKY allowed me to pause the Sports subscription whereas BT have set up all kinds of barriers. Monopoly at its worst

Re: contacting BT to cancel BT Sport

Does anyone really need to explain why the early termination charges are unreasonable? No live sport whatsoever, isn't what they signed up for when they agreed to part with £30 per month.  Oh and just to compound the issue, lots of people are struggling financially and BT's current level of customer is an absolute disgrace.

Re: contacting BT to cancel BT Sport

Wouldn't they??? They will try other ways.

Having cancelled my direct debit I was contacted and offered 3 months credit of £109.47.

I declined this and told them I still wished to cancel. I was informed fine my final bill would be ready in 7-10 days.

My March bill arrived dated 25th and was for £36.49 this was prior to the 3 months credit offer.

My BT Sport access ended 1st April 2020

Final bill has arrived today and lo and behold it is for £123.60.

I have had £22.36 refunded for my BT Sport but have been charged for the 3 months credit, described as money refunded to you.

So everyone please be vigilant check any bills as BT will appear to try anything to rip us off.

Re: contacting BT to cancel BT Sport

Sounds like you maybe had cancellation charges for cancelling while in a contract, that's the only explanation I can think of for that

Re: contacting BT to cancel BT Sport

Strange it was same amount as credit offered  and also I was informed that  cancellation charges would not be applied.
