I have only recently moved to BT Infinity so this might be a stupid question but is a download speed of 2.4kbs normal? I remember dial up being faster than this. When browsing everything seems fine but I get practically no service when downloading a torrent. My old sevice through zen internet usually averaged around 500mbs, that's a drop in speed of 210,000%. I appreciate there may be some throttling but 2.4kbs is a bit of a joke.
Do I need to change settings etc?
Mike
I do use P2P but for Business only!. You will get top speeds for P2P with legit reasons, the reason why you are getting terrible speeds cause you are trying to download software illegaly from a website! Not for Torrenting!. Please dont do it.
I'm trying to download a linux distro for my Raspberry Pi computer. The torrent is approx 2gb in size. I expect to be retired before this download completes. I was expecting it to finish before tea time. I'm sure your little outburst was well meant but it doesn't answer my question. It also seems odd that you feel it's fine to use P2P yourself but then jump down anyone elses throught for doing so - bizarre. For an ammusing (but true) look at copyright protection I'd suggest you watch Rob Reid's 8 billion dollar ipod.
Hopefully someone a little more mature might be able to answer.

You should not be downloading Torrents for a start. BT Infinity is for fun and internet not for downloading illegal software. Please go and buy in future! I hate people that do that sort of thing and wonder why they get rubbish speeds!!!
Are you on drugs? Torrents aren't illegal lmfao...
I dont think I'm on drugs, I will check?. lol. So your saying it is legal to download torrents on such sites like Pirate Bay??? I'm sure BT themselves would not back that comment of yours up!!! Thats why they go through all there fuss to discard the site???

They arent illegal. There are lots of legitimate sites that use torrents to distribute their files easily. I suggest you get your facts straight before accusing someone of illegal activities.
The only real answer is to pay for a newsgroup , and you,ll get a abetter download speed and no throttling anytime 🙂

WOW, why do people alway think that torrennts are illegal, I use them to help share Android ROM's with XDA, and they are not illegal, and if BT reduce the speeds then that's fine by me, but it will still seed to the members.
Sheep theory again....
Raspberry Pi ... I don't know which distro you need, but many are available for direct download: just downloaded on in around 1 min. http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/download.php?file=/images/raspbian/2012-09-18-wheezy-raspbian/2012-...
Looking at the torrent alternative, I seem to be limited by a lack of peers; so don't know if Infinity would limit me even more. Whoops, I did a silly with my torrent download test (not a frequent torrent user). Retrying and it is downloading (11:20am) at around 20Mbps; less that half the direct download but still not too bad.
