Is it all attachments or just one in particular?

Which antivirus program are you using?

Is there further information in your antivirus notifications?

Hi , its all attachments are being blocked, and I am using BT antivirus software.

I checked the source code of the html for downloads and there was added code in the html files of the blocked attachments.

I have restored  Windows 10 to any earlier point and reset the Google browser, I am now checking to see if any malicious code has gotten through the antivirus software as downloads are still being blocked

After deleting BT anti virus, MaAfee, it took a few days research to find out that NOT all of the components get deleted.

The web advisor app was still in use and I believe the settings in this app had been changed/corrupted, once this app was deleted, I ran DISM to restore the disk image. Am now in the process of deleting numerous anti virus programs, disk boot images, disk recovery software etc. etc and re-installing software that I deleted as part of the fault finding checks

I was very surprised to find that the BT anti virus software on my PC can have its settings changed to block software downloads without my permission, how these changes happened did not flag up any malware alerts from various anti virus programs including Windows defender - it this a security breach in BT, because that is what it looks like to me.

You should only be running one antivirus program on your PC. If you have more than one they can conflict with each other and cause problems. After uninstalling BT Virus Protect you should run the McAfee removal tool which should remove any residual files.

You should also check for any browser add ons that you may have installed which can also be a source of problems.
