email problems

Go to solution

Hi,

First time for me on this forum.

I have windows 7 and Microsoft outlook 10.

I have been using outlook to send/receive emails om my bt internet account no problems at all.

I have recently created a new sub account for my wife and she can receive emails no problem.

However she cannot send an email unless its from my account.

How do I change the sttings so that she can send her own emails please?

both accounts are set to incomming mail server 'mail.btinternet.com' - outgoing mail server mail.btinternet.com.

Thanks

Hi. Welcome to the forums.

May I ask what error message is received when trying to send from her Outlook account ?

As well as setting mail.btinternet.com as the outgoing server, a couple of extra checks are needed. File/Pick her account and choose Account Setttings, highlight her account and hit the Change button. The main account settings should be fine as that's mainly about the receive emails. Click the More Settings and press the Outgoing Server tab. Make sure that My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is ticked and the first option "Use same settings .... " is chosen.
