I am due to change soon to fibre. I have replaced my router with the new fibre type. Ever since i have had constant single rings on my land line and there appears no pattern to it. my router and land line are plugged into a filter that worked absolutely fine before? Anyone know what is going on here please?
Good afternoon. I have previously posted this message but not sure why i had no response? Since upgrading my hub supplied by bt to connect to fibre the land line rings a single ring intermittently throughout the day and night. Sometimes it is when i am using the internet, sometimes not. I have had to disconnect phone because it is so annoying. It all worked fine before with old hub. It also had an effect upon my printer but i have managed to sort that. Any ideas please? All connected through filters as before too.
Perhaps star wiring? Locate where the line comes in and ensure it only goes to the master socket. Any extentions should be daisy chained from there.
Alternatvely you can report a line fault.
Have you tried replacing the filter?
Thank you for your reply. I've tried two different filters with no change whatsoever. Good idea to try though.
This is definitely the master and i only have the one anyway. Tried the replacement filter but no different. The phone started to ring straight away after plugging in. Thanks for your input.
I have noticed that the internet connection keeps breaking between my computer and the hub. It is a little over six feet away and is wireless. I ran a diagnostic on it to find the fault and it came up with two issues. One being the wireless adaptor which it auto fixed and the other says " a network cable is not properly plugged in or it may be broken". Could this be my issue with the hub all along and if so why did it work fine before with my old hub? I have checked all connections that i can physically get to which is right up to the master socket but all seem 100% ok? Any ideas please?
Disable your LAN card to stop that message.
Thank you for your reply to my question. Am i to assume then that there is no issue there? I'll look into your suggestion and see if i can do this but my skills with all technology isn't the best. Thanks again.
Open network and sharing centre/change adapter settings.Right click local area connection select disable. You are getting the message because it is enabled but not connected. Once you disable it you won't get the message.
