free 6 months amazon prime video

We have just recontracted and got 6 months free amazon prime video- to activate just click on the link. Well the link goes to an amazon/bt set up a new account page, so we use our amazon (shopping, no prime or video account) and get the message we cant set up a new account as one is already in existance.

My question, Is this BT Prime video offer only open to non amazon customers (it is estimated 30million people in the UK have amazon accounts, so if so not many people will be able to enjoy this)?

The link states "click to activate" not click to set up a new account and if you are an amazon user you will have to set up another account and if this is the case set up a new email address and password to remember to access this offer.

Some clarity is required because this is certainly  not a simple click as the details of the promo and confirmation suggest.

Thanks

Re: free 6 months amazon prime video

Is this the link you are using?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/prime/promo/landing

I seem to remember from past promotions, that it extends any existing membership.

If you make sure you are already signed into Amazon, before you click on the link, it should allow you to apply the promotion code.

@technophobe222

The promotion page does say "The offer is only available to customers who don't currently have a Prime Video account."

So it looks like its of no benefit to you, but I wonder if you could pass it on to another family member?

It looks like you would have to set up a separate account to take advantage of the offer, but I will as for advice from a moderator, as there must be a simpler way.

I have asked a moderator to provide assistance, they will post an invite on this thread.
They are the only BT employees on this forum, and are based in the UK.

Re: free 6 months amazon prime video

Hi @technophobe222, welcome to the community and thanks for posting. I'm really sorry for any confusion caused, as you're already an existing Amazon customer you will need to use an alternative email address when signing up for the Amazon prime video offer.

Re: free 6 months amazon prime video

Thanks for the clarification. If that is the case I think it’s an incredibly poor show by BT. 30 million people are estimated to use amazon in the uk, so 30 million people can Not simply just  click to activate as per the email confirmation. It appears each and everyone of them who takes out this offer will need to set up a new email account and a new amazon account. It just seems badly planned
