I think that BT do block port 25 except to their own servers.
yeah think , but we set up with monitoring to use 9025 which has worked on another bt one,(but i think residential) but not this one
One other port to try Port 2525.

If the monitoring site accepts SMTP over port 9025 it shouldn't be blocked by the BT network.
Have you tried it authenticated by your email username/pwd & with either SSL, TLS or no security?

How do you know? Has the monitoring site told you that? Usually port 25 does not require authentication & so comes with none, but any non-25 SMTP do require authentication.
i know because ive got another 25 sites set up exactly the same, and they all work fine.
