how I can get wi-fi signal in my room

my room is quite far from the Hub.

I was trying to find an other place in the house to place the HUB.

Would anybody could suggest what should I do. Are there any gadgets that could help the signal to reach my room.

Any advice would be useful.

Thanks

Agnes

Re: how I can get wi-fi signal in my room

You could buy a wireless extender such as the ones BT sell.

http://www.shop.bt.com/products/bt-dual-band-wi-fi-extender-600-9WW6.html

http://www.shop.bt.com/category/networking,network-devices,homeplug/11301

There are other manufactures that you could use so do an Internet search to find the best deals.

Re: how I can get wi-fi signal in my room

I use homeplugs/powerline adapters,  they are really good. I have not used the BT ones but can recommend the TP-Link ones also - using them and they are very good.

The small one goes into a socket beside the router and is connected to the router with a network cable.

The wifi extender one can be plugged into any socket in any room in the house (providing sockets are all from same consumer unit) and will transmit the wifi network from there. Pretty simple to set up.

Re: how I can get wi-fi signal in my room

Thanks, that was very useful. So in case I buy this version the small should be plugged and connected to the router with a cable I guess, and the bigger one is to a socket forexample near to my room. Is that right?

Thanks

Re: how I can get wi-fi signal in my room

I am so sorry for bothering again.

I was checking on the TP-Link extender. I found a short video, how to install it. In this video they are talking about turning on and of the WPS button on my router. We have a BTHomeHub2. Does this Hub have the WPS button.

I am not as dummy as I seem, I am just scared to touch anything on the Hub.

Thanks for your answer in advance

Re: how I can get wi-fi signal in my room

There is no WPS button on the Homehub 2. You do not need that button to set up the adaptors, it just makes it slightly easier.

You would just work your way through the instruction set up and enter things manually.

See this link

http://www.tp-link.com/en/faq-398.html

and this one for the full instructions.
