hub disconnecting and intermitten slow speeds since way before christmas

so as the title says, one minute the connection will be fine, then it will be really slow, and sometimes just disconnects completly and the orange light flashes on the hub for a while and then it goes back to blue...ive had this problem since before christmas and only had BT for 6 months...not a great first impression of this ISP!

 

can anyone help here please?

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).


are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

im connected directly via filter, there is only 1 socket in the flat. ive done the qiuet line test on a cordless phone, it seems quiet, maybe a tiny bit of static

your stats show your hub reset at 16.16 today - was that a manual reset or hub dropping connection?  are you able to use the test socket just to eliminate in the unlikely event that your faceplate has a fault?

 

check quiet line test again if you use the test socket with a new filter   if any noise then your need to report a phone fault to 151

that was hub dropping connection at 16:16, the connection seems stable now but that means nothing, it will probably drop later or tomorrow, i can try the test socket

if you can try test socket then please do and then repost stats and lets see if that helps  also see if any line noise on quiet line test

ok using test socket now, hub logs below, 1 filter the power light was flashing orange and the "b" light would flash on and off occasionaly, i tried the other filter and im online now...but both filters have worked before. i dont think this is a filter problem but could be...

using a new filter rules out a simple solution of a faulty filter - they do not last forever  the last thing you want is engineer visit and cause of problem is faulty filter as you will get a bill for £129.99

believe it or not it has occured to me to try both filters and yes the problem still remains, ive tried everything
