i am thinking of leaving bt and wondered if i can keep my @btinternet email address as it is used for a lot of online accounts?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes you can, you would need to signup for premium mail at www.bt.com/keepmyemail
The cost is £7.50 per month for up to 11 email addresses, more info can be found Here
Hi,
that may be true in principle but I am failing miserably and am now running out of time. When I try to place that secure order via "keepmyemail" I am told I need a stronger password. I follow the link, create a new password which gets the thumbs up from BT, return to "keepmyemail" and.... am told I need a stronger password. A game than can be played for hours. Had BT on the phone re this, was promised a solution a week ago but nothing.
I really fear I will lose my emails now and am thinking of involving the regulator as BT prevents me from keeping my email address.
Any solutions out there please?
This thread is two years old and so is the information.
You no longer need to take BT Premium Email if you wish to keep your BT email address.
Provided you are happy to only be able to access your email account via a web browser and not an email client/app you can "drop down" to the BT Basic email for free.
If you want to use your email on an email client/app you will need to pay for a BT Premium email account.
When you cancel your BT Broadband package you should be offered the different types of email when you log onto your MyBT.

I have an old talk21 email address which was taken over by BT some years ago. Does the same apply: that I could keep it without charge if I were to leave BT?
Yes
