incoming emails disappear!

Over past few weeks some emails arrive in my Inbox and sometimes then disappear almost immediately. I can recover them from "all mail" . Any ideas on why this happens and how to avoid?

Thank you

Re: incoming emails disappear!

Which email system are you on. Is it BTYahoo or BTMail. If you are not sure log on via a web browser and if you see Yahoo anywhere it means you are on the BTYahoo system.

How do you access your email, is it via a web browser (webmail) or via an email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird?

Do you access your email on more than one device, such as a mobile phone/tablet and a computer?

Re: incoming emails disappear!

Thank you

It is BTYahoo
I assume access is through webmail
I have two email addresses which are connected @BTINternet and @gmail.com
Use tablet, phone and computer to access email
Is that enough info?
Regards

Re: incoming emails disappear!

Does this happen on the first device you access your email on or does it happen after you have you accessed your email on one device and when you access it on a different device the email "moves".

Re: incoming emails disappear!

Can you confirm that on your computer you use a web browser to access your BTYahoo email account?

Where and on which device are you seeing the folder "all mail"?

You say you have a BT email account and a gmail account. On your computer if you use a web browser do you access the gmail account by logging onto gmail separately or do you have it set up to be accessed when you log onto your BTYahoo account?

Are the emails that are going missing ones that have been sent to your BTYahoo email address or ones to your gmail address.

To try and establish where the problem lies can you switch off your phone and tablet before you access your email on your computer to see what happens.

Re: incoming emails disappear!

I am not sure but it appears to be the interaction between BTYahoo and gmail that is the problem and could be being caused by the email app on the iPad.  It will probably be set up as an IMAP account so it is  replicating what is on the gmail and BT servers.

The iPad is probably set up to check for email at certain times and when it does that it puts the gamail email into the "All Mail" folder. this is possibly a "smart mailbox".

This means that when you check on your computer the email can not be found because it has already been moved.

It may be that you will need to turn off the "smart mailbox"

If you have a look at this link it shows you how to show or hide "smart mailbox".

If you give it a try and see how you get on
