infinity not available but already a Sky fibre customer

Go to solution
Hi guys,

I'm trying to switch to BT infinity broadband. I live in a new build house which is 2 years old. I've been with Sky fibre since the house was built with there up to 76mbps package. Surely if I already have Sky fibre then infinity should be available to myself, or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance

You are  missing that if the cabinet is full Infinity won't be available. The port you are currently using obviously won't be showing as free and wouldn't necessarily get allocated to you if you ceased your Sky service to switch if there are other waiters. What does the DSL checker show for your cabinet? https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.address

Ah ok, I (wrongly) assumed that because I already have a connection in the cabinet with Sky that one would just get transferred over to BT

Here's the info from dslchecker...

Yep, waiting list. No, connections don't get transferred, they go to the next on the waiting list.

You're stuck until someone cancels their service (and you order quickly) OR, until Openreach increase capacity in the cabinet.

Its an Openreach decision and applies to all providers
