I have set up BT Mail on my ipad 2 and can read and send emails no problem. However, if I read or delete an email on my laptop it doesn't update my ipad. Have I missed a setting somewhere to sync it all ?

Are all your devices set up as IMAP?
The iPad is - if I go into settings and my email account it says imap.- how do I find out if the laptop is ?
It depends on what email client you are using but basically you need to go into the email client settings. In Windows Live Mail for example you need to open WLM then go to "accounts" > "Properties" > "servers". It will show either IMAP or POP3.
You can not change from POP3 to IMAP on the fly. You would need to set up the IMAP account and then delete the POP3 account. Beware that if you have downloaded emails onto your computer the may be lost when you delete the account so you should back them up first.
This morning I tidied up my inbox and lo and behold my ipad synced. Why, i don't know, but thanks for the replies
