issue with BT TV and Netgear R9000 router

Hi, I am trying to use a Netgear Nighthawk X10 R9000 router alongside a BT Openreach Modem. All works well except for BT TV. I cannot get any of the subscription channels ( error message: IPC6023) that worked perfectly with the HH6 (unreliable unfortunately).

I have trawled through this community and that of Netgear and only managed to confuse myself, everyone seems to have different solutions none of which have so far worked for me.

Does anyone have a definitive guide as to how I can solve this issue or even if this Netgear Router can work with the BT Youview box?

Many thanks

Re: issue with BT TV and Netgear R9000 router

Hi @Jeffripr,

To view BT subscription channels you need a router which will support 'Multicast'.

The Netgear Nighthawk X10 R9000 does support multicast but you are required to set this up yourself on the admin pages of your router.

The HH6 has everything configured as default.

Hi, did you manage to get this resolved? I’m having a related issue with the same router as per my thread here

No, sent Netgear router back and bought a TPLink one which works fine.

Got no help from Netgear or BT.

Re: issue with BT TV and Netgear R9000 router

Hmmmm - disappointing. Sending it back is not really an option for me as I bought it for the Plex server capabilities that it has and those seem to be working fine for me. Did you have the same intermittent issues that I’m having (BT Sport working ok for 30 mins and then black screen)?

I’d rather end up having to cast BT Sport from the app if need be.

@DarrenW - any development on BT TV with Netgear R9000 that you’re aware of since this was first posted?

Re: issue with BT TV and Netgear R9000 router

I managed to get it working for about 2 hours then it would revert back to blank screen with the IPC6023 message. The only way I could get it back was by rebooting the router each time, not very practical.

I am not aware of any updates that will fix this but I have not had the Netgear router for some time so can't say if any recent firmware updates would fix it. I assume you have the latest version.

Can't offer any more help this I' m afraid.
