Re: keep losing signal & poor speed

your connection speed is low for you attenuation however your noise margin is correct and it is hard to see where any improvement in connection speed could be achieved

Re: keep losing signal & poor speed

Still doesn't explain why the signal keeps going. When it failed earlier I connected the phone straight to the master socket without a filter and couldn't hear the broadband signal at all.

Only other thing I can think of is that we're suffering due to the Olympics!

Re: keep losing signal & poor speed

just lost signal again- green light on Netgear router turned red, rebooted it and it took forever to re-establish again, this is what the home hub kept doing. It's driving me nuts!

Re: keep losing signal & poor speed

Really need the full home hub ADSL Statistics  including all of the error counters, to really see what is going on.

You will not "hear" the broadband signal, as it uses radio frequencies.

Re: keep losing signal & poor speed

there are NO problem being caused due to the Olympics there is more than enough capacity on the network to cover that event 2 or 3 times before any problems would be seen

Re: keep losing signal & poor speed

Well today the Netgear has kicked out 4 or 5 times, sadly it doesn't automatically reconnect when the signal is lost so has to be rebooted each time, a quick internet search reveals that this is a common Netgear problem so it's going back and I've reverted to the homehub.

I'll see how it runs over the next day or so and then post some stats from it but clearly there are still issues with the signal being lost.

Speed is still around 0.62Mb which is woeful compared to what we were getting.

Re: keep losing signal & poor speed

Hi,

are you able to post your adsl line stats for the home hub:

Go to http://192.168.1.254 or http://bthomehub.home
2) click Settings
3) Click Advanced Settings
4) Click Broadband
5) Click Connection or sometimes called ADSL
The direct Address is http://bthomehub.home/index.cgi?active_page=9116 (for bthomehub3)

Cheers,

Re: keep losing signal & poor speed

the restarts have most likely reduced your IP profile you now need 3 /5 days stable connection for it to rise again

Re: keep losing signal & poor speed

Trouble is, it doesn't stay connected long enough to build up any speed!!!

It's just lost signal again:

So I let it sort itself out and reconnect, now it's back up:
