Hi could anyone please explain local call charges.I barely use the phone and arent up to date but cost does seem awful high.I made 3 calls with duration of 20,23 and 51 seconds to local dentist and was charged the same which was 36p for each call.Then a call of 1 min and 10 seconds which was 50p.Seems alot for a call just over a minute .Calls to 0345 number cost less.Any help be apprieciated

I assume the phone number is a typical number for your area.
Call charges if you're not on a plan are 13p a minute, plus 22p setup fee according to their website. But that should also apply to 0345 numbers. I believe it's per part minute, so a 1 second call would cost the same as a 59 second call. Not sure if vat is included or not, but the figures compare with your info.
yeah explains charges could you tell me how long the set up fees have been in action for.When was this thought of bit like the bedroom tax make it up as you go.I dont make many calls but for someone that does must be small fortune in set up fees.think ian duncan smith must of thought of this.

No idea when it was brought in, but it's not that long ago I think - maybe 4 years or so.
An anytime call package is best to have for even a few calls a day. Might be worth looking at. I think it's £9.50 a month, but it depends on the overall package.
