locked out of email

I've had 3 failed calls with customer service. Basically I'm being told that I cant unlock my email because I'm not a BT customer anymore (haven't been for years btw)

So are my choices as follows-

1) pay for premium service (which I've spent 30 mins on the phone trying to figure out and I don't even know how much it costs)

2) lose all the information in my email account?

Is that it? And is there a way of sorting this out without another phone call (please god!)

If you are not a BT customer, as you have found out it is unlikely that BT will do anything to help you.

 

Premium email costs £5 per month. Even if you decide to pay for that there would be no guarantee that you would be able to recover your emails. Normally once an email account has been deleted it is gone and can not be recovered.
