Re: mac code

This is a customer to customer forum. There are no BT staff other than the forum moderators.

If you want to contact Ofcom I'm sure you will find out their contact details on their website.

Mac codes should be issued within 5 working days.

See link for how to obtain mac code

Re: mac code

Agree with the terrible service!  I have now phoned 4 times for a MAC and I just get fobbed off.

Can somebody explain how one gets to leave this dreadful company?  If I don't get any answers today I'm contacting my MP

Re: mac code

Under Ofcom regulations they HAVE to provide you with your Mac code within 5 working days:

http://ask.ofcom.org.uk/help/internet-service/MAC

If it's longer than 5 days i suggest submitting a complaint to Ofcom.

You could also try calling who you wish to switch to as they may not need it and will notify BT for you.

But you risk a £30 cease charge from BT.

Your ISP must issue the MAC code within 5 working days not that you must receive it in 5 working days

Re: mac code

IMJ - you are correct but the MAC must be provided by 2 methods one of which has to arrive by/on the 5th working day to avoid any penalties from OFCOM eg phone/email will be sent and received on same day. The other method is post which arrives sometime after the 5 days.
