Re: new email format how do i delete multiple emails

Thanks - I have started to do that using Outook. I have 96000 though! An additional problem is that for some unknown reason I am getting at least 3 of each message in my outlook inbox and some I have deleted are coming in again from BT Mail! It feels a bit like the sorcerers apprentice!

Trying to download that many in one go may easily cause the connection to the server to hiccup, and in that case the "fetch session" may not finish correctly. Thus pointers to the last received email in Outlook may not sync correctly with the server, hence could start at an earlier message number. So emails already received can be fetched again within Outlook, and again if the connection fails quickly.

No idea what you totally agree with but if you want to list your emails chronologically you just click on the "Date" button at the top of the email list if you are not using a preview pane view or with the preview pane below your list and if you are using a right preview pane view you click on the black down/up arrow.

Thanks and apologies. It was my first post. It was about not being able to delete multiple emails as efficiently as before

If you are using an iPhone I presume you will be using an email app to access your email. Unless you happen to be using the BTMail app, BT have no control over email apps and as such they can not ensure how every email app functions.

I don't use an iPhone so I can not tell you how to get your emails into date order but I would be very surprised if there is not a way to do it. If you are using the mail app that came with the iPhone I suspect that the option to do that will be in the settings section.

If you are not using an email app and instead you are accessing your email on a web browser you will need to tick/use the "full desktop" version. This will allow you to change the settings as I previously described. Once you have done that it will be saved and it should then carry over when you use the web browser in the "mobile" version.

Re: new email format how do i delete multiple emails

To be really explicit, I want to highlight lots (1000+) emails through a highlighting function, scrolling through my inbox, and then delete the lot by hitting delete ONCE. Does any one know if this is or isnt possible? I can't find a highlighting function, for some reason, to carry out one action simultaneously on multiple emails. My suspicious mind thinks it's been removed as it causes too much strain to the system?

Can you explain how your suspicious mind has arrived at the conclusion that deleting multiple emails  "causes too much strain on the system".

It is not there because the new system has not included it in the design spec to delete 1,000+ emails at a time.

If you want to delete multiple emails you should tick the box to the left of the first email you want to delete then either use the keyboard keys Ctrl+ down arrow to highlight at the emails you want to delete or use the Ctrl+PgDn keys repeatedly until you select all the emails you want to delete then select delete.

Very helpful, Distinguished Sage, that allows me to remove enough (40?) emails at a time without crashing access.

Would you also have sage advice around how to leave a number of emails open at once on BT's new inbox format (up to 5)? I find myself chairing meetings where I need to flick from one email to another and back again, without time to refind the emails in the inbox each time. In the old design, open emails were stacked along the top of the inbox. In the new one that facility has disappeared.

My mind doesn't detect anything suspicious about this, as having 5 emails open can only increase the processing load by a negligible amount. Maybe it was an oversight, maybe other users just don't need this.

I did find a way round it, which is to open an email, and then log in again to BT Email on a completely different tab on the browser. But then you've opened BT email 2,3, n times which is not very satisfactory.

If you can do this, you will surpass BT's telephone-based email helpers who couldn't crack it.
