I had fibre broadband installed 2 weeks ago, thats working (apart from appalling WiFi range) but I still have no landline.
My number I asked to keep is with Vonage on VOIP, but three attempts at number porting so far I still don't have a BT landline (the first a postcode mismatch now resolved). I've had to call BT myself each time to initiate these attempts as no one from BT is contacting me about the landline.
Apparently and engineer said today I will be getting a copper landline as I have an existing phone wall box.
Whats my best way forward to get this resolved please without loads more phone calls and waits for failed porting.
The number was originally a BT sourced number.
Thank you
Are you at the same address as when you originally had this ‘BT’ number with BT so before you exported it to a VOIP provider ?
Have you advised the VOIP provider that you no longer want to be a customer of theirs and they have ceased your service with them ?
What was your previous setup ( apart from the ‘BT’ number delivered over VOIP ,) presumably you had a landline and ADSL/VDSL service from someone or did you use a mobile to access this ported BT number ?
If the copper pair service is still present, unless you indicated you wanted whatever number was allocated to the service to be delivered over the fibre, then it will have a number on it that presumably will be your ‘new’ BT number associated with the service....if/when whatever VOIP provider that has your wanted number , relinquishes it and it reverts to BT ( you state they are the number range holder ) you can ask for a renumber.
Seems odd that you state you will be getting a copper line, how did you get the BT number when previously a BT customer if not over a copper line ?, why do you need a line installed , it should already be there.
Thank you
I originally had a BT phone landline at the same address with this number (hence copper and socket still in place). I am trying to save this number and get back onto BT. Years back I had broadband by another broadband provider and moved my number onto a Vonage VOIP phone.
Two weeks ago BT installed full fibre broadband but did not complete the landline part as the engineer said he doesn't do that bit. BT had the instruction to bring my existing number back across to them.
Initially they said the number port did not happen due to a postcode mismatch, now it just hasn't happened a few times for reasons I dont know.
I havn't terminated contract with Vonage for exactly this reason, I don't want to lose phone service or my number. Once the number is ported I will cancel that contract.
Actually the Vonage service has been good but BT would not allow its transfer insisting I must have a BT Landline with Full Fibre. There is clearly no technical reason for that as they told me today I will get my phone over the existing copper.
Hope thats clearer ?
