Can you advise whether BT have sorted your problem, please?

I have the same issue.   New install FTTP with Digital Voice.  No caller display on either existing phone plugged into phone socket on Smarthub2 or new Advanced Digital Home Phone handset linked directly to the Smarthub.

Have managed to speak to the FTTP team.  They found that caller id was not active on my account,  and changed it but with no effect. 

They have asked me to dial *234# from the handset and they are to call me tomorrow for me to report the result.  Which is the same as you got i.e.: "Sorrry, you have entered the feature code incorrectly; please hang up".

Hi HeydonC, 

yeah, BT sorted it at their end. Was awaiting a call back from the digital voice team, which never came, but caller id began working. So can’t say what they did or how they fixed it, but it’s fixed.
