Re: not getting anywhere on helpline - speed/noise reducing regularly

For now just leave every thing alone and keep an eye on the noise margin during the evening

Re: not getting anywhere on helpline - speed/noise reducing regularly

You've had mine .... but what do I know?

It only worked for 2 years on mine, the way I've stipulated. before I went to ADSL2.

Like you posted before Roger unless the Noise margin is set to 9dB this will continue to happen my comment on keeping an eye on it was that after the reset the noise margin had goes back to 6dB again and to see if it started dropping again during the evening

It will continue to go down .... that's what it doing.

His target 6db is eroding till it gets that low, bitloading isn't efficient, then it's dropping and starting over again.

His 4db and less won't sustain the IP stream at night, hence my suggestion.

And if he has dslam 9db set, it will erode the same, but to about 6-7db, where it WILL bitload at night.

Then .... it won't drop.    🙂

Re: not getting anywhere on helpline - speed/noise reducing regularly

The moderators have the capability to do it ....

Request it through the mods, with a link to this thread.

But of course, it's the OP's decision.

And like I said previously, he will get a slightly lower sync at target 9, but after the dslam has trained a while on it, it will settle down and improve once line history has established.

Losing some sync rate is not important, it's throughput that's important, and his will improve at night, and the daytime throughput that is lost owing to that slight loss in sync, will hardly be noticeable.
