Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

The best tip i came across from ray's link on kitz was to use a programme called PuTTY instead of using windows telnet

I have the basic commands (get stat /interleave/help ect) in a windows notepad file  so I can just copy the lines directly into PuTTY and jobs a good'n.

Its far easier for me than try into to type things 🙂

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

"We're aware of an issue affecting the BT Home Hub 5A which could be causing performance issues with a small number of our customers' internet connections. The symptoms these customers may have include occasional loss of wi-fi and broadband connection."

Just again want to "doff my cap"" to the Guru's who recommended this thread. 🙂

Mine line is rock soild with the unlocked eci/r & Tomato linksys router.

No updates , dissconnects , calling home, dropping leases or any other mischief the hh5  (now  ^confirmed^) gets up to........

Ray , gg30340 and pippincp where right all along with the hh5's issues.

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

".....extra changes..... based on feedback from our customer test group. This means it is taking a little longer to deploy the fix and for you to see the improved performance. We are working around the clock to ensure it is done asap, please leave your BT Home Hub on to ensure it receives the fix."

Might take a while then........

Still agree with the Guru's that the quick and easy fix is not to use it 🙂

I wonder if they've broken it trying to get the hh5 work with the new "transmision technology" the people on kitz are excited about?

No wonder the openreach engineer said  leave it in the cupboard.....

My old Tomato Linksys seems light years ahead now.

I think they're trying to implement the EU standby power saving directive.

I haven't read the directive in full but I doubt that it has to be implemented retrospectively so I would imagine that no company would go to the bother of trying to update existing software or hardware to comply if it wasn't necessary.

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

Though it did already met the power regs ?

Least it will keep openreach busy over the next few months reseting dlms 🙂

I'm most feel left out as the lines as dull as dishwater using separates. I now fully appreciate why the more bussiness orientated isp's still pay openreach to install modems.

Unlikely, the regualtions are a can of worms that is kicked down the road every 12 months or so.
