ive just had the letter for price increase of £2.50 for broadband and calls in september.I presume its legal then for a rise mid contract. With the price increase am i allowed to leave without penalty or must you complete your contract.
thankyou
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes it is legal and if you check the letter/email you will find that it explains that you can leave without penalty.
"Early Termination Charges: These usually apply if you cancel during the minimum term of your contract and are payable for each month of the minimum term remaining after you cancel. These charges won't apply if you cancel because of the changes detailed in this email. We're increasing some of our Early Termination Charges from 16 September 2018. For more details visit bt.com/tariffguide"
You can terminate the broadband contract early at no cost but not any TV contracts, these will have early termination costs.

Can you say that as a fact?
According to Ofcom you can leave your contract without penalty and no barrier should be put in your way.
As you need broadband for BT TV, if you leave the broadband contract because of the price rise you can not be penalised into keeping the now useless BT TV package and be charged cancellation fees.
In this instance all the contracts will be treated as one.

Thanks for replies, ill be paying £34-99 for infinity and line rental so it might e time to cancel well i got chance. In 2 years time will most likely be at least£40-00 so might be best to get the cheap fixed 2 year contract with the other provider at £24-99
actually other provider is £24-50 i just looked so quite a saving
Try calling the Options Team 0800.800.030 and explain you are going to leave because of the price rise and see if they can offer you a better deal.
Thanks yep no harm asking.i hardly even use phone and i feel price is just to much especially with increase but ill chat with options team.If i need to leave will i need a mac code
You do not need a mac code. That requirement stopped a few years ago.
