"Important update about your account"

Forgive me if this has already been done to death! Just received official looking email from BT advising that we need to re-enter card details to avoid disruption to service etc. The card we use for direct debit is still valid and nowhere near expiry date, yet the link takes you to a page which looks authentic.

Is this a scam??

Have sent email to BT but also wanted to check on here.

Many thanks

Do not click on any links. Delete it.

See here for info about scam emails.

Re: "Important update about your account"

Most of the emails I get claiming to be from BT are scams.  Some are really obvious - particularly where there is bad grammar.  Some are more subtle - I have even seen ones that are almost exactly the same as genuine BT emails - they have copied the whole of an email and just changed the links.

Be suspicious.  If in doubt, hover your mouse over any links they want you to click.  They should all go to domains ending in "bt.com", or possibly "custhelp.com" for help information.  If it's anything else, it's probably fake.
