"Local Only"

Go to solution

Hi,

Just had the engineer visit the house and had everything set up, The HH5 connection works perfectly fine on my two laptops but of course fails to connect to the Internet with my Pc. Using Vista 32, the computer will connect to the Hub, but just remains local only. I've tried countless "solutions" none of which are any use to me.

Last resort here guys, I'm literally freshfaced to BT right now and growing ever so fustrated, any help would be greatly welcomed.

Re: "Local Only"

Welcome to the forums.

Was the PC switched off during the installation?

If not, the quickest thing to do is power this down, power cycle the hub and switch the PC back on.

Should it still be local, go to network and sharing -> manage network connections, right click on the method being used (network cable or wifi)  and select properties. On this new window select ipv4 and check the IP address is obtained automatically.

And joy?

Glad to hear it's sorted:).

Please keep on posting DS, your contributions are much appreciated. I know things on the forums get a bit silly at times, but you can filter out a lot of that sort of stuff, if you cannot ignore it Smiley Wink

I'll give it some serious thought Keith, which tbh it's been one of the many things I've been doing for some time now.

Anyway, regardless to what I do, Happy New Year to ALL🙂

Thanks for the wishes.

If you have an unused e-mail address, then I can give you a "clean" feed of the more useful stuff on these boards, so you do not have to do a manual trawl.

PM me, if you decide to get interested.

Re: "Local Only"

I've dropped all unused addresses now, as I was tidying up this and that to remove any ties with BT.

But can get another non BT one:)

You'll know when I know;)
