"You have had too many unsuccessful attempts to login."

Trying to log into BT email and get "You have had too many unsuccessful attempts to login.   You have been temporarily locked out. Please try after 15 minutes." when entering correct details and even after one single attempt

 

Am getting the same in different browsers.   

 

Any advice?

 

Have tried clearing cookies and cache.   Never seen the like before.

 

Have tried resetting password but I have forgotten answer to security question.   So at least I know my password has not been changed or something.

 

It was about ten years ago I started using this email address and I can not remember answer to that security question.  :facepalm:

Hi.

Have you by any chance changed password recently? Do you use other devices to access your emails?

I assume you've waited at least 15 minutes like it said, though I would double that.

One problem that can manifest itself is if "others" are trying to login to your email address - simply by misspelling their own email address and getting yours (or of course maliciously, but not really likely). That could cause this issue.

This is why I am very concerned

 

Have felt like I am being "hacked" for months

This is biggest reason for me to think that .   just been weird random stuff before.   But I have been using this email address and disposable addresses associated with it for a long time so I am in big trouble if I loose that particular account

Just tried resetting password myself and account is so old I can not remember answer to security question.

 

Have tried waiting 15 mins 30 mins and an hour.

 

I don't really that account for sending emails.   I just really use it when I have to reset forgotten password for sites and accounts which I use disposable addresses for.    It been more than a week since I last tried to access it. And to be honest because I am panicking so much I can't remember how long exactly

So what can I do?

 

Sitting here knowing somebody is trying access my account is doing my head in and not being able to access or change the password to known one is making me want to get BT to delete it .

 

How can I confirm if my password was recently changed or not to help know for sure if my account has been hacked or not?

 

I trying tofind  BT contact info and found the info at https://www.bt.com/help/home/contactus/#/ hoping to access webchàt 

It only gives advice to try and log in to webmail, which how I access BT email anyhows

BT webchat got it sorted.   And confirmed nothing malicious had happened.
