reolink cameras

Go to solution

Hello!

I have purchased a Reolink Argus Pro camera and solar panel.

I am having trouble getting the camera to see the Bt Home Hub 4 (type A).

I have the reolink app on my phone, it reads the QR on the camera.

I input the wifi key in the app and get the QR on the phone, the camera reads the QR , then says connecting to router.

It makes about 5 attempts then fails.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong.

Cheers,

Bit more info if I look at the evnts log on the hub, it sees the camera and associates it then instantly disassociates it.

Cheers,

Keith,

I have both of your suggestions and it still will not work.

It appears to be the security on the hub that is the problem.

I have it set to WPA & WPA2.

I have connected my phone to BT WiFi with Fon, run the Reolonk app and the camera connected, however I cannot see the camera on my phone. If I open the app it shows no camera added.

I suppose the next step is to turn security off on the hub and see if it works, I'll try that. Then see if it stays connected when I turn security back on.

Right I have turned off the hub security and it connects straight away, turn it back on and it fails.

Can I get a different Hub, that has the right type of security?

The security for the camera should be WPA2-PSK/WPA-PSK.

I don't want to leave the hub without security.

That is what the hub uses. Are you sure you are entering the passkey correctly and not entering the hub password by mistake

Can you please explain what password you mean. I only have the wireless key and the admin password. If I remove the wpa & wpa2 security, the camera connects and works perfectly. I contacted the BT helpdesk this morning, and they gave me number to ring as the camera needs certain ports forwarded. I called the number and was told they needed the manufacturer to tell them which ports to open and it would cost £30. So far not impressed.

You only need to forward ports if you intend viewing the cameras away from home and is a simple matter to do yourself.

The hub has an admin password and the wireless has a passkey, they are not the same thing. If you can access the cameras with no security then the problem lies with the wireless passkey not being recognised.

Have you followed the instructions here to setup the camera

Thanks for the reply, I bought the camera, for security purposes so I could see it on my mobile. I have not changed the wireless key from day one. If I have WPA & WPA2 enabled or disabled, I still input the same key, are we saying that if you remove WPA & WPA2 security, then the key isn't required. I have followed the set up using the Reolink app and the Reolink Client, with WPA & WPA2 switched off.

Yes, the passkey is the security. If you disable WPA/WPA2 then no paskey is required.

You need to enter the wireless passkey on the camera following the instructions I linked to, i.e initially connecting via Ethernet. Pass keys are case sensitive, make sure you are entering it correctly.
