replacement sim

I have recently got a new sim from BT because my phone kept saying emergency call's only on the screen I now can't even get a signal with the new sim. When I put the old sim in its back to saying emergency call's only. Help anyone?

Perhaps you have no signal where you live, or your account is blocked?

Thanks Keith I have a signal now but still a message on my phone saying emergency calls only.
